Milliondollarmovie is an NFT meets Found Footage project about ownership.
NFTs are non-fungible tokens, it's in short a way to create ownership of a digital entity through the blockchain.
Found footage is often analog media discovered by collectors at yard sales, second-hand sites, or even sometimes just given to you. Most of the time, the value was once sentimental by the owner/maker of the film. Due to time, loss, death or other reasons the original ownership is lost, and it gets transferred to the next finder. The original sentimental value gets lost, degraded, with that transfer.
With this work, I bring this value back to the hyped world of NFTs with its blood clenched thirst for ownership. Yet, by dismantling the footage and breaking it up in frames, each frame becomes a collectible on a volatile market. The odds that the film comes back as one is close to none from the moment the first frame gets sold. The footage as a whole is only visible if the collector(s) have all the frames. This transfers the homemade video into, 3134 pricey collectibles.
This is my first NFT project I've made, this will most likely by my last NFT project I'll ever make.
